November is a busy month: six birthdays plus Thanksgiving. Already I selfishly wrenched away the joy of making my daughter’s 8 yo birthday cake from the rest of the family though her brother did make a smoothie from their new fave: My Pokémon Cookbook, which is surprisingly well done for those that enjoy the Pokémon universe.

Our Pumpkin Layer Cake with Caramel Buttercream cake came from Yossy Arefi, author of Snacking Cakes and blogger at Apt. 2B Baking.

We're missing our Wedgwood pop-up market Saturdays but that is our preferred time for volunteering at the local food bank. Thankful my 12 yo and I can get back out there.

We are down to just a handful of recipes in our Kid Chef Everyday 2023 cook-through challenge for the 12 yo. I can’t believe how much he’s learned in one year though probably the biggest change is ME: learning to relinquish control of 2 dinners/week plus rethinking the kitchen: Grill Armor gloves (heat resistant to 932F!) and easy access to necessary items, such as open shelves and avoiding complicated nesting of dishes (so guilty). Now we’re on the hunt for our 2024 cook-through challenge cookbook; send me your ideas!

I'm not sure why it took us so long to make Kid Chef's Frozen S'mores Hot Chocolate but it was so much fun. First crush graham crackers, dip the tops of your cups in melted chocolate and roll the rims in the graham crackers. This felt VERY fancy to the 12 yo.

Next pour marshmallow fluff and melted chocolate down the sides of the cup and fill with a delicious blended homemade hot chocolate & crushed ice. Amazing!

This month I’m loving Regula Ysewijn’s Great British Baking Book: part history, part geography, part baking but 100% fun, which is what I need after 10 years of family meals. I guess I'm thankful for some variety and inspiration! Tattie scones and Aunt Betty's Gingerbread have been scrumptious so far.

We’re also super excited about our holiday macaron flavors & gift packaging, cookie tabling events (where we have a blast decorating holiday cookies with lots of kids!) and finally our blossoming Friday delivery list for challah, macarons, babka and more. Order yours today! Our filled-challah options so far this month have included fresh basil pesto and chocolate orange.

Pumpkin caramel & chocolate ganache gift macaron packages for delivery!

Lastly, we are so thankful to have the opportunity to deliver freshly baked, warm bread on Fridays. What a perfect start to every weekend.
